E&G Kraft

E&G Kraft is a family-owned company working with frequency regulation – a key component in keeping the Swedish power grid stable at around 50 hertz. The company has developed MEGAOHM, a battery-free solution primarily used for FCR-D Down, where energy is absorbed during frequency disturbances to help restore grid balance.

E&G Kraft also offers services within mFFR CM, providing manual fast frequency restoration when Svenska kraftnät calls for additional balancing resources. MEGAOHM meets all requirements set by Svenska kraftnät, is CE-marked and fully insured. The first installation was commissioned in 2023, and additional units are now being developed together with new partners.

The solution can be connected directly to existing grid connections and is scalable from 100 kW to 50 MW. It is aimed at industries, power plants, and large properties that want to generate a stable, passive income while contributing to a more resilient electricity system.

In addition to frequency regulation, E&G Kraft is developing new concepts for thermal energy storage, including sand-based energy storage solutions as one of the ongoing development tracks.

Through its membership in Glava Energy Center, E&G Kraft seeks access to knowledge, networks, and industry insights – and, when needed, the opportunity to use testbeds for further development of its technologies.
