Kickoff for the Swedish-Norwegian Project CIRIS
The kickoff for the Swedish-Norwegian project CIRIS (Interregional Circularity in Central Scandinavia) has taken place. The project aims to strengthen research and innovation capacity within circular industrial value chains in Värmland and Innlandet. During the kickoff, the Swedish project owner Glava Energy Center and Swedish partners Karlstad University and Arvika Näringslivscentrum and Norwegian project owner Vaager Innovasjon AS were gathered.
– It feels very exciting to get the project started. The collaboration between Swedish and Norwegian partners will be crucial in creating new opportunities for a sustainable cross-border region. We look forward to exploring the needs of businesses and increasing competence in circular economy in the region, says Christina Wolf, Project Manager at Glava Energy Center.
The project will enhance research and innovation for circular value chains in the manufacturing industry, focusing on steel, aluminum, plastics, composites, and energy. Through collaboration between industry, academia, and the public sector, new solutions will be developed to strengthen the regions’ competitiveness and sustainability.
During the kickoff, project partners reviewed work packages, roles, and expectations and set a general plan for the three-year project period.
The initiative is based on close cross-border cooperation between Sweden and Norway and is co-financed by the EU through Interreg Sweden-Norway, Region Värmland, and participating partners.
