Kickoff for the Swedish-Norwegian Project GränsEnergi

The kickoff for the Swedish-Norwegian project GränsEnergi took place. The project is based on developing local energy communities by close cooperation across the border between Sweden and Norway. During the kickoff, project owners Glava Energy Center and Swedish partners Karlstad University and Dalarna Science Park, along with Klosser Innovasjon, who is leading the project on the Norwegian side in collaboration with the Norwegian partner Fornybar Utvikling, gathered.

– It feels fantastic to finally get the project started as the energy system is facing significant challenges. Through this project, we aim to contribute to increased renewable electricity production with smart solutions that benefit both society and industry in the region, says Mikael Mellerdal, sub-project leader, Glava Energy Center.

The project aims to develop local energy communities for housing and industries in the border region of Värmland, Dalarna, Innlandet, and Akershus. This will be achieved by utilizing research-based knowledge, innovative technology, and new interaction models to lay the foundation for the development of local energy communities.

During the kickoff, project partners went through work packages, roles, and expectations, as well as set an overall plan for the three-year project period.

The project is financed by the participating actors, Region Värmland, and Region Dalarna, and co-financed by the EU through Interreg Sweden-Norway.
