Knowledge of Inspections Competitive Edge in the Solar Industry
The slowdown in the number of installed solar power systems is creating tougher times in the solar energy industry. This gives companies all the more reason to invest in knowledge about quality and safety, according to Per Hederstedt, course leader at Glava Energy Center. Last week, he conducted an inspection course in the test and solar park at Glava.
– In tough times, competition becomes even fiercer, which can lead to safety and quality being deprioritized. We see that Glava Energy Center’s inspection course is perfectly timed, focusing on pre-commissioning checks, quality control, and inspections, says course leader Per Hederstedt, solar energy specialist at Maple Energy and a Certified Construction Inspector (RISE) with 20 years of experience in the electrical industry.
Positive Trend Expected
The latest statistics from the industry organization Svensk Solenergi show a sharp decline in the number of installed solar power systems in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Right now, the market is uncertain and under pressure for many players in the solar energy sector. At the same time, both Svensk Solenergi and the Swedish Electrical Safety Agency predict that the installation rate will increase again.
– It is even more important to invest in these areas when there is less work. When the market turns around, you’ll be fully prepared to deliver new installations to your customers without compromising on either safety or quality, says Per Hederstedt.
Gaining Insight into the Role of Inspector
One of the course participants present at Glava on September 11–12 was Camilla Bernström. She has experience as a project manager in solar energy projects that have been inspected and felt that now was the right time to attend a course to gain insight into the role of an inspector.
– Completing the installation correctly is an important part of the project. Through the course, I’ve gained lessons and insights that I hope will help me in assignments where I will perform inspections of solar energy systems myself, says Camilla Bernström, a consultant in the field of solar and wind power at Sweco.
She is satisfied with the professional development she has received and believes that the training at Glava Energy Center offered more than just knowledge.
– I chose Glava Energy Center because I heard it was the best training. A big plus turned out to be the environment at Glava, the fact that we participants had a lot to learn from each other, and that we were so well taken care of with accommodation and meals during the course days, says Camilla Bernström.

Inspection of Solar Power Systems
Glava Energy Center’s two-day training on solar power system inspections includes both theoretical and practical training, focusing on fault identification in an authentic environment at Glava Energy Center’s solar park. The course provides in-depth knowledge about the inspection of solar power systems and the general guidelines and regulations that apply. Members of Glava Energy Center receive a 10 percent discount on the course fee.
