Knowledge of flexibility opens new business opportunities
Glava Energy Center is now launching two new training courses on flexibility markets – a digital introduction and an in-depth course held on site in Glava, western Värmland. The courses are aimed at both grid operators and companies that want to understand how flexibility can become part of their business while also contributing to a more sustainable power system. The instructor is Darijan Jelica, flexibility expert and CEO of Flexia Consulting AB, with experience from starting and running several flexibility markets in Sweden.

Annual Meeting with Breadth, Engagement and Strategic Focus
Glava Energy Center’s Annual Meeting on June 2 brought together nearly 50 participants from more than 30 member companies. With a growing membership base, new projects, and long-term initiatives in focus, the day was filled with forward-looking discussions, knowledge exchange, and a workshop on the future direction of the innovation cluster.

Sonja Berlijn will be speaking at the 2025 Energy Conference in Glava about the future of the electricity grid — and why the solutions to take major steps toward a fossil-free future already exist today. Sonja is Director at Norwegian DNV, Professor of Secure Power Systems at the University of Oslo, and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.

A four-step methodology has been developed as a practical guide for grid operators to implement flexibility in electricity networks. This is the key finding of a new report from Glava Energy Center, produced with support from Energiforsk. The report also reveals that the flexibility potential among electricity producers, industries, and private consumers in Värmland is higher than expected.

Students' Tips: Turning Resistance into Pride in the Energy Transition
Recreation and tourism in wind farms, knowledge and inspiration through a household utility app, and proactive collaborations with businesses and sports clubs — these were some of the creative solutions proposed when students from Karlstad University and the Vocational College in Arvika tackled the issue of local public attitudes towards the energy transition in a CRE8®.

Game Plan for Monitoring Sustainability Presented to Strategists
In the EU project ARIES4, a game plan with proposals for areas and indicators of economic, environmental, and social sustainability has been developed, providing guidance for regions and societal sectors in measuring sustainability. In October, the project results were presented to strategists in regional development at a seminar at Karlstad University.

Among the 130 registered participants were politicians, officials, urban planners, energy specialists, energy researchers, entrepreneurs, industry representatives, and investors.

"Good communication contributes to the energy transition"
Glava Energy Center welcomes Albin Norén as a communicator for the LOKEN project, Local Energy Management Värmland. He is fundamentally a journalist and most recently comes from Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan where he worked as a development manager and produced the podcast Bygdefolk – about opportunities and challenges of living in rural Värmland.
