Project Manager

Responsible for the project LOKEN, Local Energy Management Värmland. Has extensive experience in project and process management within regional development and issues concerning energy, environment, and sustainability. Goal-oriented and innovative, driven by a genuine desire to contribute to sustainable development in Värmland.

David Olsson

David Olsson
Project Manager

Responsible for projects in the field of smart sustainable energy systems at Glava Energy Center. Holds a Master's degree in Energy and Environmental Engineering from Karlstad University. Aiming to work with technical solutions that contribute to and accelerate the transition to a renewable energy system.

Isac Myrén Andersson

Isac Myrén Andersson
Project Manager

Responsible for projects in smart sustainable energy systems at Glava Energy Center, as well as for IT and measurement data infrastructure. Holds a Master's degree in Energy and Environmental Engineering from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology with a specialization in sustainable energy technology - solar power. Has a vision of a sustainable energy system where renewable energy is the enabler.

Lisa Gärdt

Working in the ARIES4 project, which is creating a system for collaboration and knowledge sharing among stakeholders in smart specialization strategies at the regional level. Background as a project manager with experience in sustainability projects at the local, municipal, and regional levels. Passionate about sustainability in regional development and business.

Albin Norén

Albin Norén
Communications Manager

Communicator for the LOKEN project. Background as a journalist at Sveriges Radio and TV4, as well as a development officer at Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan. As a project communicator, tasked with disseminating knowledge and understanding of the project's various components and goals. Aims to strategically and tactically create communication that arouses curiosity and inspires the energy transition.

Andreas Theocharis

Andreas Theocharis
Karlstad University

Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering and Physics, and Electrical Engineering. Conducts research on intelligent electrical and renewable energy systems, machine learning, and data processing in smart and sustainable energy grids. Has worked for several years on the integration of renewable energy into power grids. In LOKEN, he contributes with research on the application of AI in energy systems. By using machine learning, data analysis, and energy forecasting, we are looking for promising alternatives and solutions for sustainable modern societies.

Avit Bhowmik

Avit Bhowmik
Karlstad university

Internationally recognized environmental and climate solutions researcher. Has published articles in several highly ranked scientific journals and played a key role in multiple reports and policy documents within the Global Climate Action Summits and the UN's political forums. In the LOKEN project, he is involved in work packages on energy communities, energy leadership, and energy planning. The focus is on contributing to a sustainable social energy transition.

Lena Grip

Karlstad university

Associate Professor in Human Geography. Researches social and gender aspects within urban and regional planning. The research highlights how policies and their practical implementation are influenced by perceptions of different people and places – and how this, in turn, affects people's everyday lives, work lives, and opportunities. Program Director for the Urban and Regional Planning Program and teaches topics related to physical planning and local and regional development, with a focus on social and ecological sustainability. These are crucial issues for the energy transition, exemplified by the LOKEN project.

Mikael Johnson

Mikael Johnson
Karlstad University

Lecturer in Business Administration and Researcher at the Service Research Center and the Business School, Karlstad University. Conducts research on operational and business development, often related to sustainable development and the transformation of private and public companies or organizations. In LOKEN, the complex societal challenge of electricity supply is addressed. A service approach and system perspective are intended to facilitate transformation processes, innovative business models, collaborative solutions, and a deeper understanding of flexibility solutions.

Seema Seema

Seema Seema
Karlstad university

Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering, Electric Power Systems, and Renewable Energy Systems at Karlstad University. Her research work on renewable energy and machine learning will be beneficial to LOKEN and in the planning of energy scenarios at the local and regional levels, as well as in the investigation of potential hybrid energy solutions at the local and regional levels.

Reza Sirjani

Reza Sirjani
Karlstad university

Lecturer in Electrical Engineering, Electric Power Systems, and Renewable Energy Systems. At Karlstad University, his research areas also include Smart Grids, Implementation of Energy Storage Systems, and Analysis of Uncertainties in Renewable Energy Production. Reza's research and expertise are highly valuable to LOKEN.

Lotta Braunerhielm

Lotta Braunerhielm
Karlstad university

Associate Professor in Human Geography and an interdisciplinary researcher with research interests in place development, place attractiveness, and tourism, with connections to digitalization. In the LOKEN project, she primarily contributes the perspective on social sustainability.

Markus Rinio

Markus Rinio
Karlstad University

Professor of Renewable Energy and teacher of Semiconductor Physics and Solar Cell Physics. Has conducted research in international projects focused on solar energy for over 25 years, including 10 years at the German Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE), a collaboration that continues to this day. Together with his research group, he has built several laboratories with characterization methods. His research focuses on new types of solar cells, solar cell modules, defects and degradation, and testing methods for solar cell systems. In the LOKEN project, he contributes with knowledge on solar cell systems and solar parks.

Jorge Solis

Jorge Solis
Karlstad University

Docent in electrical engineering who, among other things, conducts research in the development of assistive robots, design of biologically inspired computational models, intelligent machines and automation in applications for industry as well as design and implementation of intelligent/adaptive control for robotic systems and solar cell systems.
